T-Mobile & Orange due to merge together
The respective owners of T-Mobile (Deutsche Telecom) and Orange (France Telecom) have decided to merge their phone companies into one. This merging will most likely make them number one, ousting O2 off the current spot. The business will employ staff from both companies including Orange chief executive Tom Alexander and T-Mobile’s CEO Richard Moat. Currently, O2 occupy 27.1% in the market whilst Vodafone own 23.6%. Before the deal can be put through, it will be reviewed by the UK office of Fair Trade, as well as the European Commission. Networks for customers of both companies will run 18months after the deal is done.
